Andre,

Fantastic commodity. Very clear. However, I'm having a problem that is not addressed in your step-by-step guide.

I successfully get to the step right before the OOBE. My PC boots once more merely goes dorsum to the DVD which is all the same inserted. Then, I get the prompt to Press any central to reboot from CD or DVD. Doing so gets me back to the setup on the DVD for some other install. Not hitting any key causes my PC to just terminate.

Is the media supposed to be removed prior to this final reboot?

Dennis

[UPDATE] Success. By a combination of doing a PC Cleanup then removing the DVD just afterward the final setup stride, I'chiliad able to boot into the Tech Preview and finish setting up accounts, etc. I'm upwardly and running now.

Strange, what is your default kick device in the BIOS, hard disk or DVD?

Try making your difficult deejay be the default kicking device in the BIOS and come across if allows you to boot into Windows ten without going into setup over again.

I'm not sure what you hateful by "default boot device". My boot order is DVD then difficult bulldoze. If I make the hard bulldoze commencement then I cannot boot from the DVD to get the install started.

The difficult drive had an quondam Windows 8.0 system on it. When I tried to install a agglomeration of updates, I could no longer kicking from the hard bulldoze. That'south when I decided to only scrap 8.0 and attempt Win 10.

Only I'm not sure that's my problem. If I pull the DVD and effort to kick off the hard drive I get this error, in evidently text on a black groundwork:

A disk read error occurred

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

When I do that, I get the aforementioned thing again.

If you are in the OOBE for Windows 10, why would you need to exist booting from the Windows 10 install media again except for installing Windows ten once again?

What y'all said:

I successfully get to the step right earlier the OOBE.

This is right earlier the OOBE:

When this phase of setup is consummate, Windows volition automatically restart and reboot into setup again.

Which means, all necessary files would have already been copied from the disc to facilitate the installation.

Do y'all accept more than than one hard disk installed in your computer?

Do you take external storage devices fastened to the system?

If you do, disconnect them before running setup.

Andre, I'm not in the OOBE. As I said, and you quoted, I'm in the footstep before where I run into the "Windows needs to restart .." message. But considering my DVD player is first in line in my BIOS, instead of booting to my hard drive which at present has the Tech Preview on it, the PC boots back to the DVD with the install ISO on it.

But, as I said in the update to my first post in a higher place, I was able to pull the DVD in fourth dimension then my PC booted to the hard drive. I now take the Tech Preview running.

Thanks for the article and your help.

Well, I have a question:

I did the gratuitous upgrade of my Windows 7 and now desire to reinstall Windows 10 using a make clean install. I'm a fleck broken-hearted from nature so I first looked up whether my installation of Win10 is activated and which product key is used.

And that'southward the strange office:

When I use the MGADiag.exe tool to bank check genuinity of the installation it shows me a fundamental that ends exactly like the Windows xInsider Preview Primal. More than curious:

Using a 'key extractor vb-script':

Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Beat out") MsgBox ConvertToKey(WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DigitalProductId")) Function ConvertToKey(Key) Const KeyOffset = 52 i = 28 Chars = "BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789" Do Cur = 0 x = xiv Do Cur = Cur * 256 Cur = Cardinal(x + KeyOffset) + Cur Key(x + KeyOffset) = (Cur \ 24) And 255 Cur = Cur Mod 24 x = x -1 Loop While 10 >= 0 i = i -one KeyOutput = Mid(Chars, Cur + 1, 1) & KeyOutput If (((29 - i) Mod 6) = 0) And (i <> -1) And so i = i -ane KeyOutput = "-" & KeyOutput Finish If Loop While i >= 0 ConvertToKey = KeyOutput End Role

I got even another key which is neither my Win7 primal nor the Insider Preview cardinal.

[Update]I now upgraded a 2nd Windows7 license also and it has the same key when extracted, seems to exist generic[/Update]

What key should I put in when I'm prompted to activate Windows x later on the clean install?

I DID Non use a Microsoft Business relationship - and I won't exist persued to exercise so.

Instead of publishing a new article, how about answering the questions?

Afaik:

When I upgrade to Win10 my Hardware-Setup is recorded in a MS DB and connected with a free license for Win10.

What, when my hardware changes? Yes there'due south much information about that but only from 3rd-party. Do I demand to do the upgrade once again? What if my hardware changes AFTER the ane year afterwards the release? Practise I notwithstanding get the free upgrade? If not, can I at least use my 'old' Windows which I earlier used to upgrade to Win10 or is the license not valid anymore (you say one can simply 'get back' 30days lonng).

How's all that with Germany: Hither a hardware-change afaik cannot 'invalidate' the license. So: Do *we* get Win10 for gratuitous on all devices?

All questions not take been answered by MS Officials.

This, well, is quite sh*t.
